Just don’t lose him—jazz will see to that.” — p. 704, “El jazz en México: datos para esta historia,” Alain Derbéz (2012).A graduate in Jazz Studies from the Universidad Veracruzana and trained through 7 diploma programs (in improvisation, double bass, neuromusicology, applied theory, and ensembles), Juan Carlos fuses technical excellence with educational innovation. His career includes a Berklee Latino scholarship (2016) and training with Jazz at Lincoln Center (CENART, 2017), as well as 11 recognitions from institutions like Rec Música, Berklee, and Universidad Anáhuac.
As an educator,
He serves as Technical Coordinator at Rec Música Centro de Estudios Musicales and teaches electric bass and arranging, where he encourages student self-expression through creative practices. His approach interweaves neuroscience, pedagogy, and sonic experimentation.
