Angel Poot
Biography
Ángel Poot (Ángel Gabriel Poot Tec) is a Mexican multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer hailing from the Yucatán Peninsula and proud descendant of the Maya people. With a deep respect for his roots, Ángel blends traditional Maya percussion instruments such as bongós, congas, timbales, güiro, and other indigenous sounds with modern genres like pop, rock, and electronic music.
He works from his personal studio equipped with microphones, monitors, and a range of acoustic instruments, bridging the gap between ancestral heritage and contemporary production. His musical style spans Classic and Progressive Rock, Synthpop, Electropop, and Latin Pop, drawing inspiration from global icons like Max Martin, Sia, Bruno Mars, and national legends like Luis Miguel and Jorge Costa.
Ángel collaborated extensively on “Selva Maya”, an upcoming track by Renewal Music Collective, where he contributed not only as a musician but also in production. The track celebrates a fusion of rap in Maya language, percussion, and urban soul.
Deeply committed to the development of local talent, Ángel aims to compose and produce original material in collaboration with other emerging artists from the region. He’s also active in educational projects, live shows, and musical outreach—sharing the vibrant legacy of the Maya through sound.
